About Tracy

Tracy Pride Stoneman

Tracy Stoneman has been representing investors and stockbrokers with claims against their brokerage firms for over 30 years. From the outset of her career, she became active in championing the rights of investors — publishing articles to make securities arbitrations fairer and co-authoring a book to educate the public on the behind-the-scenes activities of brokerage firms.

One of the early members of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association, she served on its Board of Directors for six years and has represented thousands of individuals wronged by their brokerage firms.

Unlike many firms that delegate work to junior associates, Ms. Stoneman personally handles 100% of the work on every case.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have a case against my broker? +
If your broker recommended unsuitable investments, made trades without your permission, churned your account, or misrepresented an investment — you likely have grounds for a claim. The best way to know is a free consultation with Ms. Stoneman.
How long do I have to file a claim? +
FINRA arbitration claims are generally subject to a 6-year eligibility rule. However, state statutes of limitations may also apply. You should consult an attorney as soon as possible to preserve your rights.
What does it cost to hire Tracy Stoneman? +
Ms. Stoneman takes cases on an hourly basis, a contingency fee basis, or a hybrid arrangement. In contingency cases, you pay nothing unless she recovers money for you.
Do I have to go to court? +
No. Most disputes between investors and brokerage firms are resolved through FINRA arbitration — a private proceeding that is generally faster and less expensive than going to court.
Can Tracy represent me if I'm not in Texas or Colorado? +
Yes. Ms. Stoneman provides nationwide representation and has handled cases for clients across the United States.
What is churning? +
Churning occurs when a broker excessively buys and sells securities in your account primarily to generate commissions rather than to benefit you. It is illegal and can form the basis of a FINRA arbitration claim.
What can I recover in arbitration? +
You may be able to recover your actual investment losses, interest, and in some cases attorneys' fees. In cases involving egregious misconduct, punitive damages may also be available.
How is Tracy different from other securities attorneys? +
Tracy personally handles 100% of the work on every case — nothing is delegated to junior associates. She also has a built-in securities expert witness (her husband, one of the highest-paid in the country) who charges nothing when assisting her cases.
